Meet Paige, Founder of The Gel Edit

Hi, I'm Paige McCaig, the founder of The Gel Edit.

Before this, I'd built a career founding and growing other successful ecommerce businesses. I knew how to spot a gap in the market and build something around it — but this time, I wanted more than that. I wanted to build something I genuinely believed in. Something I'd actually use myself.

As a busy mum, salon appointments just don't fit into my life the way they used to. Between school runs, work, and never-ending to-do lists, sitting in a salon chair for an hour felt like a luxury I couldn't justify — in time or in cost. But I still wanted my nails to look good. I use my hands constantly, all day, every day, and chipped polish within a couple of days always used to drive me mad.

So one day, I sat down and thought properly about it: if I were solving a real problem for women like me, what would that look like?

It came down to three things:

• Time — I don't have an hour to spare, but I do have 7–10 minutes once the kids are finally in bed.
• Cost — regular salon visits add up fast, especially with the cost of living what it is right now.
• Quality — whatever I used still had to look salon-good, and actually last, without chipping within days.

That's how The Gel Edit was born. A gel manicure I can do myself, at home, in the time it takes to watch one episode of something on the sofa — that looks just as good as (if not better than) a salon finish, doesn't chip, and doesn't cost me a fortune.

It's the product I wished existed when I was scrolling salon booking apps at 10pm, wondering how I was going to fit an appointment in around everything else. Now I don't have to.
